Barbados Birth Services FAQs

It is advisable to start early, as soon as you are 1-3months pregnant, to enable you prepare ahead. You can start saving before you get pregnant.

It is visa-free, but you need a valid UK/USA visa to transit.

You can apply for either a tourist or a transit visa

Requirements for a tourist and transit visa

  1. International passport (must be valid for at least 6months from the proposed travel date)
  2. 5×5 white background passport photograph
  3. Work details, i.e., introduction letter, work ID card, etc.
  4. CAC registration certificate (if applicable)
  5. 6-month bank statement

After the visa is out (or if you already have a visa), the birth services process starts.

    Couple: $3,000 (2months)

PREMIUM PLAN

  1. All Standard plan inclusions+
  2. Pre-delivery and Midwife Consultation 
  3. Grocery shopping twice (scheduled) 
  4. 1 prepaid SIM card (preloaded for 2 months)

Cost

Couple: $4,000 (2months)

Additional applicant: $500 (per month)

Hospital Breakdown👇

Hospital fees: $4,000 - $5,000

Obstetrician: $3,250 - $6,500

Anesthesiologist (optional): $1,500-$3,000

Pediatrician: $250-$600 

Ultrasounds: $100-$125

Doctor’s office visit: $80-$150

Tests (strep B, blood, sugar): $30-$40

These fees are paid when you get to Barbados.

 

Private doctor and hospital - Budget $8,000 (additionally)

 

Kindly note: A deposit of $500 is paid before the visa application and is refundable in case of refusal.
 

Public hospital

Make a deposit of $500, which is deducted from the maternity package for the mother only. You have to pay the full maternity package fee after your visa is approved.

Yes, you can stay more or less than 8 weeks. However, you would pay $80 per extra week spent.

Up to 32 weeks. A few airlines take up to 34 weeks. It is advisable to travel early.
